Red face Gnome 46.alpha

This is the new Gnome 46.alpha Desktop Environment I am working on building. I know it reads Gnome 45.1 but that is only because it is still in development.

I had never even heard of Pantheon. Nice desktop, with clever and appropriate wallpaper.

It is apart of Elementary OS

At first glance, the Pantheon desktop looks a little like Cinnamon or Budgie or the Classic mode of GNOME 3. However, the most exciting features of Pantheon are the smallest touches. It excels in all the places you notice the very least, until that place is the only thing you're looking at one day, and you realize that the way it works has literally improved your quality of life, to say nothing of making your day a lot nicer.

I decided to update my old EeePC with Slackware 15.0 and openbox over the holidays. I've had the thing since 2008 when it shipped with ubuntu and I put Slackware 12.2 on it shortly after. The laptop is still running and has lived through a few Slackware releases now, though it doesn't get used for much more than playing music these days given the 1GB of RAM and 2 thread atom processor

WM: openbox-session w the gui addons and onyx theme that I tweaked a bit.
Desktop: pcmanfm --desktop
panel: tilt2
File manager: pcmanfm
terminal: urxvt-256 color
browser: seamonkey (was lighter weight than firefox, and this thing cant do much on the modern web anyways)

Happy Holidays!

I asked from AI DALL-E 3 to create some Slackware images. Some of them can be used as desktop background...
Here are AI`s creations (+ one mine for Slackware 30 years): https://github.com/rizitis/wallpaper...ALE-e_3.tar.xz
Here are some old classic wallpapers edited for dark-light view https://github.com/rizitis/Slackware-Wallpapers-Gnome
Everyone who have new or old Slackware wallpapers and want to share them, plz fork github repo and push or ask for access

Happy new Slacky Year

My SLK 15.0 DWL 2024 configuration (config.h), upgrade from DWL 0.4 > 0.5.

Patches:

dwl-0.5-autostart.diff ( Allow dwl to execute commands from autostart array in your config.h file. )
dwl-0.5-pointer_accel.diff ( Provides "adaptive" and "flat" mouse profiles )
dwl-0.5-vanity-gaps-attachside.diff ( Combo patch: inner and outer gaps between client windows, plus the master window on right.)
dwl-0.5-shiftview.diff ( Shiftview function that allows to cycle through tags )
dwl-0.5-squibidmoveKeyboard.diff ( This patch allows to resize dwl floating windows using keyboard bindings )
ipc-v2-fixed-wlroots17.patch ( Patch provides an ipc for wayland clients to get and set dwl state. )
kblayout.patch ( Provides to send current keyboard layout information to a status bar. )

Anyway, DWL has no default bar, I decided to install the dwlb bar.
The dwlb is ab a modified version of dtao, designed to emulate the status bar of dwm.
My config.h, required font-awesome fonts.

I needed some current stuff, because DWL 0.5 required wlroots-0.17.x.

Talking

Slackware64 15.0. The theme: Breeze dark and Oxygen with defaults. The wallpaper is too large to upload to LQ- it can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/KAwTVg9

The black version of the wallpaper has the background set to be black within the KDE wallpaper utility. The actual wallpaper is slightly transparent, as you can see in the second screen shot- I used blue as the background color (#0266be with positioning set to "scaled, keep proportions").
