TDE (Trinity Desktop) for Slackware 14.2 (64)

Have had a jolly good search with Google, but could only find TDE for Slackware 14.1 64.

It looks very interesting so in the spirit of Linux, I'd love to try it out to see what it's all about. I've got multilib installed so a 32 bit version would be just fine too.

Have had a look at MATE but didn't like it; tried installing Cinnamon but ran into problems there, so back-burner for that.

Next experiment will be Trinity if I can get it for 14.2 and when the time's right for me, it'll be Plasma 5.

I love Linux as the journey just never ends and it's never boring!

Got it downloaded, thank you.

Was a bit concerned when I perused the instructions but in my /usr/local there's only a perl directory with anything in it, so it might just be a case of Dinner Out is a Go soon (quote from the film Spygame).

Thanks for the link.

Trinity installed and running. I just wanted to see the timeline of the KDE changes over time.

This is not a deal breaker, but can Dolphin be run, as while Konqueror is OK, Thunar is just yuck to me.

KDE Dolphin works fine on PCLinuxOS, better than the Trinity version of Dolphin.

I haven't had time to play with the Slackware install of Trinity yet, did it take long?

Not long at all. The uncompressed archive ran successfully in just 5 minutes then the 'xwmconfig' has Trinity last in the DE list.

The longest part is, as expected, configuring Trinity then setting the desktop and programs up correctly

There have been a couple of application crashes but Trinity recovered from them without difficulty without leaving X.

It's a personal experiment by me to see how KDE has evolved over the ages. I had Slackware 8 in 2002 so it was KDE 2.x back then.
