I installed a Slackware64 14.1 minimal install following these instructions: http://aboredcoder.com/post/a_easy_m...laptop_install
I then did a MATE rsync + upgradepkg to install MATE. MATE does not show up in xwmconfig, so I added a section to /usr/bin/xwmconfig and created an /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.mate file with "exec mate-session" as the contents. I get two entries for MATE when running xwmconfig, and no matter which one I chose, when I reboot and run "startx", I get the error "mate-session not found". What am I doing wrong?

I tested mate using a full installation so if you use a custom installation it would be harder to help
My MATE install was a full install, and TWM shows in the xwmconfig dialog box, so my assumption, possibly wrong, is that this shouldn't have anything to do with a minimal install, although I do admit that when I installed MATE on a full Slackware install (minus KDE) there wasn't any problem with xwmconfig, if I recall correctly. Unfortunately, the computer that I installed on doesn't have the hard disk capacity for a full Slackware install + MATE.
