slackware 13.37 - ndiswrapper

Hi

I'm not sure if this belongs in slackware or in networking...

Anyway, I'm a newbie and I've just installed slackware 13.37. I've spent a day and a half trying to get my wireless card to work with ndiswrapper. Only just found out I was trying to install the wrong package...

So I've finally managed to install ndiswrapper1-56. Managed to install the Windows driver, and it shows up fine with ndiswrapper -l. But I'm not sure what to do next...

When I try to bring up the eth0 interface it says
SICSIFFLAGS: operation not permitted

Any suggestions to put me on the right track?

Thanks.

Jef

Are you root when trying this? Also, which chipset is your wireless card using?

Yes, I am doing this as root.

It is a prism54/ISL3890 card.

The prism54 should run out of the box, the p54pci/p54usb modules that handle those devices are part of the kernel since 2.6.24, you shouldn't need ndiswrapper at all.

Hi,

The card is working now. It seems the prism54 drivers don't work with this particular card (SMC 2802W), so I had to use ndiswrapper.
