Same here!

There is an update (with warnings!) on the slackpkg+ website, but the change hasn't been picked up by slackpkg+ yet!

Quote:

Thu May 31 09:39:12 CEST 2018
pkg/slackpkg+-1.7.0-noarch-6mt.txz: Rebuilt
- It works with the newest slackpkg-2.83.0; it broke something about the
$ROOT feature. Slackpkg+ stable will work only if $ROOT is not set.
IMPORTANT!!! this slackpkg+ version also broke the $ROOT feature in
slackware-current! If you need it do not upgrade slackpkg+!!!

Anyone care to expand on this?

OK, I get the message, but don't fully understand it (I'm not a programmer!)

What are the implications of breaking $ROOT? Is this a safe thing to do?

Cheers,

I got the same error when upgrading and saw this thread.
I made it easy for myself and removed slackpkg+ and everything worked again.
I will add the slackpkg+ plugin again if it gets upgraded and starts to work again.
I will try slackpkg+-1.7.0-noarch-6mt after i finished upgrading to see if it works.

Edit: slackpkg+-1.7.0-noarch-6mt seems to work fine.
