I've always heard him mentioned in relation to slackware, in fact the XScreensaver collection installed with slack contains his notorious picture, smoking a pipe.
What's the deal with him, and what is he in relation to slackware?
No no, I just spent a lot of time trying to understand the church, and failed at doing so. It's one of the things you don't understand so much as accept and embrace or move on.
i was interested in this too a few weeks ago...
i looked around on the site and found hundreds of refrences to slack but none to slackware. then i went to the subgenius IRC channel where I was told that Patrick is a member of the church of the subgenius and that the name slackware was in fact derived from it. i couldn't find any more information though.
doesn't seem to be anything much more interesting to say about this. then again, with this little information floating around who says its not a big conspiracy of some sort?
