Random Networking to Non-Networking o-o

Okay I got everything up and running, and on 9.1 from the base install when I ftp'ed from my windows computer to the linux computer it was as if they were networked, giving me 7megs a sec on upload/download. Now the IP changed on the linux computer because my ISP was being retarded, and Its not giving me those speeds with slack 10. I dont know much about networking in that sense so i'm askin for any help/advice you can give to get this goin again. I'm on a cable modem, using a linksys switch, thanks.

Are you saying they aren't networked? We need more info if we're going to help you...i.e. how are they connected and does your slack box have an internal AND external IP or just an internal (same with your winblows box), etc.
