preserve date time stamp copying files over home lan with samba, dolphin

I've had samba set up for my lan for years, mix of linux and windows.

After 14.2 64 upgrade of slackware server and main slackware computer when I use dolphin to copy files
to the server the date time stamp is when the file is copied not original. Wasn't that way before upgrade.

If I 'mount -t cifs //xxx.xxx.x.x/server....' to main slackware computer folder the date time stamp doesn't change
using dolphin. If I copy something from windows to the server the date time stamp remains unchanged.

I've searched and can't find anything samba about preserving date time stamp or is it something file system,
like some setting with fstab?

Did I not RTFM something?

Thanks

No Samba wiz is responding, my 2¢ is to use NFS in parallel to CIFS for Linux clients.
