Okular not respecting CUPS default settings

Does anyone know whether there is a way to get Okular to inherit the default CUPS settings when printing? I have a printer that defaults to two-sided grayscale printing, and those defaults are respected/inherited by apps that use the GTK print dialog (e.g. zathura), but not by Okular (which defaults to one-sided color).

The behavior I'm describing appears to be what's found in this (very old) bug report, which suggests it's a Qt problem: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180051. Does anyone know of a workaround within KDE (I'm on a fresh installation of Slackware64 14.1)? Or whether this issue is addressed in the new versions of Qt/KDE/Okular that will ship with 14.2?

In the meantime, of course, there are workarounds aplenty: either using a GTK-based app to view/print PDFs, or manually changing the print settings in Okular every time I want to print. But it would be nice to fix it in Okular if possible. Searching hasn't turned up anything useful.

Thanks!

(p.s. first post here. I have finally migrated my main desktop over to Slackware after many years of Arch/Debian/OpenBSD. Really enjoying Slackware so far)

Does landscape/portrait work? I pretty much gave up printing from Okular as it could not get the orientation correct.

PS: Welcome!

I haven't had a chance to try landscape yet; will report back any successes. But in any case it sounds like Okular's printing difficulties may go beyond just failing to inherit the CUPS defaults.

Oh well, a small thing. Overall, Slackware is the first distro where I actually kind of like KDE 4.

Update: I see that LQ is letting everyone know that I'm posting this update from Fedora! A different machine, fear not.
