kernel failing loading unnessary modules && issues upgrading to kde 3.2.2

I had this whole thing typed out before Mozilla/windows ME crashed , so i am retyping this as a shorter version. currently i am using bareacpi,i from the slackware instalation, its good, but it tries to load a whole bunch of joystick modules on startup. Ive tried recompiling to 1.6.3, and i figured that ALSA was automaticlly supported so i wouldnt have a sound issue. well i did. it couldnt find the soundcard, even after i moved back to 2.4.XX, so i went through the ALSA drivers with ./configure, make , make install, and reconfigurted my kernel, and all i got was a headache. so i went back to the slackware stock kernel and i was wondering if there were any ways to configure it to stop loading those unnessary joysick modules( without re-compiling or using KDE's control center, ive tried that too)

problem b
ive recently tried to upgrade to KDE 3.2.2 , it wont configure right, it said i need kcompiler_compiler (the exact phrase escapes me) so i downloaded KDEveloptools 3.0.3, and i configured all right , but i couldnt make beacuse i got one error type two and two error type ones. i'd really like KDE upgraded to 3.2, if some one can help me with this or just point me to a slackware pkg that i i can just download and intsallpkg *.tgz that would be great either way.

ive been new to linux for about 2 weeks, and the only thing i can say is slackware sure makes you learn quick, ive shown a friend who had redhat for 8 months a thing or two about linux....

you're not installing KDE of the slackware packages i take it?

in which case you need to update X ... which raises questions, coz when i grabbed KDE 3.2.2 of Slackware it needed XFree86 4.4 since then ... Slackware has started to use X.org ... presumably that would have been fixed dependencies wise, but update X as well while you are at it.
