invalid module format

I compiled 2.6.0, works fine. ALSA (as with everyone I guess) isn't. I saw numerous post about it all refuring to the 10.0rc2 drivers, but my prob wasn't mentioned. I followed the steps for my live! card step by step. All goes fine until the command: modprobe snd-emu10k1;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss

I get a long list of errors which comes down to (goes for all parts): WARNING: Error inserting snd (/lib/modules/2.6.0/kernel/sound/acore/snd.ko): Invalid module format

I have module-init-tools up to date (version 0.9.14) so what am I doing wrong?

Regards

I think .ko would be kernel object... then again, I dont know squat...

When I try to compile ALSA 1.0.0rc2, I get a 'PDE redefined' error... I haven't been able to find ANYTHING bout that anywhere... I THINK PDE stands for 'proc dir entry' or something like that... I tried stupid workarounds like just commenting out all PDE related stuff in the configure script, and in the header files from where the error comes... no point, just to see what would happen, and maybe figure out how to get around it... but no luck so far....

Stangly enough I'm getting the same error upgrading my nvidia driver. 44xx is running fine, but 5328 doesn't seem to install with the same error about nvidia.ko. What's happening?

The .ko message.

I got so angry with not finding a solution that I reinstalled from slack cd (didn't buy them for nothing ) and reinstalled 2.6.0 and tried nvidia again: no problem: succed first time. I decided to leave alsa for what it is and just use oss. It works and keeps my system in a working state

Thanx for trying to solve it!
