Unhappy Geforce 4 problems

I dont know if I should write this here or in hardware but I use slackware so I try here. I have just started using linux and I liked it but now I got a new pc and I got some hardware problems some of them I have solved myself (with help from other threads) but I get a strange problem with my Geforce 4 mx 440 I can use any resolution but when I use more then 16 bit colors KDE wont start it tells me it found screens but no one with useable settings (something like that) anyone know what to do?

xf86config

much easier to configure using this method than the other ones suggested.

Not quite sure why you quoted me sickboy.....

However I agree with XF86Config (although manual tweaking of the config file is always needed)

To explain my driver comments further the 'nv' driver that comes with x-windows 4.2 is no good as if you want opengl the glx driver with the official nvidia driver package is FAR better than MESA or whatever else you can use with the nv driver...
