gdm + not always plugged usb mouse

Hello,

I've installed slackware 10 on my notebook recently.i have a touchpad on it, but sometimes i'd like to use my usb mouse. So I changed some lines in /etc/rc.d/rc.gdm:
Code:
gdm -m /dev/psaux -t ps2 -M -m /dev/input/mice -t imps2 -R
i also edited xorg.conf and everything went OK.

But when i start the computer and the USB mouse is not plugged, then the /etc/rc.d/rc.gdm script writes that /dev/input/mice doesn't exist. after plugging and unplugging the mouse and running the script again this error doesn't appear. Does anyone know how to make it run not deppending whether the mouse is plugged or not during start up?

He is asking if there is anyway to make it so the script is executed even if the mouse is not plugged in, did you not read the post.

Well, GDM is console mouse service, so if you're only concerned with mouse usage in X then you're barking up the wrong try.

The fix for X is to simply add another mouse section which links to the usb mouse.
Is this what you're after?

I ended up just adding another input device section in my xorg.conf file, since I really don't use the mouse anyways while in the console. I don't know if that's exactly what you're looking for, but it lets me plug and unplug it whenever I want, or start up X without having the mouse plugged in.

allright, I thought that it would be nicer if the mouse would work also in console, but you are right, that it is not important.... thank u
