Thumbs down Frozen-Bubble(from slack 8.2) Not Running in slack 9

Tried to install frozen-bubble game with the tgz taken from slack 8.2. I used installpkg and it went through without displaying any error(s).
When I typed frozen-bubble a handful of error messages were displayed and I ended up with a "compile error"

I would like to know if a package meant for 8.2 will not run (compile) on slack9?
What should be done?

Generally, Slackware packages from one major version, e.g. 8 are not meant to be run on subsequent major versions, e.g. 9.

That doesn't mean they can't work though.

Looking at freshmeat.net, Frozen-Bubble is written in PERL, so you're probably getting PERL error messages.

Try downloading and installing Frozen-Bubble straight from the source: http://www.frozen-bubble.org.

This is the errors:
>>Can't locate fbmdkcommon.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at /usr/bin/frozen-bubble line 43.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/frozen-bubble line 43.<<

fbmdkcommon.pm seems a mandrake file?

I'm not sure, but maybe you could grab the latest source code from the Frozen Bubble website? You'd probably get a more up to date version, anyway.

Also see this: http://www.freelists.org/archives/ml.../msg00069.html

EDIT: I see that somebody squeezed in an answer before me, must have had an outdated version of this page in cache..

EDIT: googling tells me that fbmdkcommon.pm should be included in the Frozen Bubble package..

maybe do locate fbmdkcommon.pm or find / -name fbmdkcommon.pm and make sure that it exists? If so, move it somewhere in the @INC path?

There is no such thing as Slackware 8.2.

I installed it from source (from the frozen bubble website) a while back (version 1.0).
Bit hazy now but I seem to remember installing perl 5.8 and lots of SDK stuff to get it to compile.
Check the dependencies section on the fb website

Actually, there is one at Linuxpackages.net for 8.1, I believe, but none in the official distro, no.

Cool Slack is slick

Hi there!

Most of the time I find Slackware 10.2 very good. It's simple, robust... it's got everything I need (=Quanta Plus)... and it's free! But where's the Gnome then?
...and it doesn't have that Frozen Bubble!
