Firefox error: Error launching browser window:no XBL binding for browser

I have Slackware 10.2 with Firefox 1.5, and when I started it up, I get the following error:

Code:
Error launching browser window:no XBL binding for browser
I've googled the error and found that I needed to delete my .firefox dir, so I did. I restarted firefox, but I got the same error.

Using Swaret, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it, but I still get the same error.

Has anyone else got this error and what did they do to fix it?

thanks

make sure that firefox isn't running in the background
before you delete the directory or it will just be rewritten

Thanks for the help, but Firefox wasn't running, when I deleted .firefox under my home directory.

Still doesn't work...

maybe the chrome directory respawned in the new lib dir

try:
close firefox
removepkg mozilla-firefox
killall firefox
killall firefox-bin
cd ~/.mozilla
rm -fr firefox
cd /usr/lib
rm -fr firefox*
installpkg mozilla-firefox

i would advise you to backup ie bookmarks
but seeing as you already deleted the folder
assumed this was already done or not needed
