Thumbs up Fastest Linux


I run Slackware 7.0 at
486 40mhz (but its run on 33mhz) 4 ram
Its run VERY good ! REDHAT, MANDRAKE, SUSE cant do it
TEXT MODE RULEZ !!!

DOOM FOR OTHERS DISTRIBUTIONS !!!
DONT USE THEM

Well you have to think your hardware is a little outdated and your Slack distro at 7.0 is a bit outdated as well. It all makes sense. But if you install anything with a GUI on that machine that is newer than the year 1999 or so, its gonna run slow no matter what. But I've run Redhat 6.2 on a 70mhz laptop once with only 4MB of RAM, and it did just fine and was fairly fast.

you can install all dist without a gui interface. if you are fine with it. and as for the installation most have tham also comes with text installer
