enlightenment sound does not work, but sound works for other apps????

I recently upgraded from slack 8 to 9.1 (big headache!). The problem I am seeing is that I enable audio for enlightenment and I never hear anything. If I start up xmms or mplayer I get sound.

in order to get the sound working for the other applications I put the following into /etc/rc.d/rc.modules:

/sbin/modprobe snd-pcm-oss
/sbin/modprobe snd-ens1371

================================================================
here is my dmesg, I don't see anything specific abou the snd-ens1371 (which I used to with slack 8 on startup) . The only line I see having anything to do with the card is "PCI: Found IRQ 9 for device 00:10.0".

================================================================

My soundcard was muted in the to start off, so I had to load alsactl restore during start up in rc.local

================================================================

I have configured enlightenment with sound, downloaded and installed the latest versions for esound, and alsa-drivers, but no luck.

Does anybody have any ideas on what I can try next to get E's sound working?

Thanks

Bryan

that's a big jump, you should have just done a complete re-install to a "clean" partition.............

less headaches that way.

sorry, didn't mean to cause confusion, when I said that I upgraded to 9.1 I did format and to a complete new install from scratch.
