Enemy Territory

Hi all. I asked in the Games forum if anyone knew what my prob was getting ET installed on Slack 10. While extracting, it tells me
$ sh et-linux-2.55.x86.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Enemy Territory 2.55.............many, many dots.............
Extraction failed.
Signal caught, cleaning up

I got a similar error (I think it was SIGHUP or similar) when installing the nvidia driver in runlevel 3. Rebooted & nvidia installed fine. I tried rebooting & installing ET from init 3, to no avail.
It's 2.4.26 ide kernel off the Slackware install disc, unmodified. I tried searching here & google, without success so far.
Anyone have a tip, or know a likely resolution?

TIA.

It looks like it isnt even extracting enemy territory from its archive, so I think it is unlikely that it is your video driver at this point. Try downloading ET again, maybe the download was corrupt.

I agree. I used to download huge files only to see they were corrupted (ex.: america's army). Then i dl again and it worked.
