Problems with RPM

Hey all...i'm having a problem with installing some packages using RPMS...binutils-2.13.90.0.2-2.src.rpm and gcc-3.2-7.src.rpm are the packages i'm trying to install....is it giving me this error when I do a rpm -i....warning: gcc-3.2-7.src.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID db42a60e.......whats does this mean....I downloaded the rpms from the redhat ftp site....I have verified that the size of the files is the same between my computer and the ftp site...but, I still can't find out whats going on....let me know....

Is there any paticular reason why you are trying to install the source code for binutils and gcc? I think you want the standard rpm`s not the source (src) packages. On another note the error you are getting means the file has no digital signature.

You have to get rpm to import the gpg key that redhat used to sign them by doing something like:

# rpm --import /usr/share/doc/redhat-release-*/RPM-GPG-KEY

Then you'll be able to check rpms you download from redhat with "rpm -K" like:

# rpm -K gcc-3.2-7.src.rpm
# rpm -K binutils-2.13.90.0.2-2.src.rpm

So where can i download the standard RPMS...I can't find it on the redhat site....probably poking around in the wrong places...the only reason why i needed to download binutils is for my nvidia driver needs "ld" which is part of binutils...there have been a post about the same problem i'm having with the nvidia driver and the person resolved it by installing binutils....so i wanted to download it but, i guess i might of gotten the wrong rpm....also thanks hazza, that rpm --import rocks...so can anyone point my to the right path or address to download the standard binutil rpm ...not src.....

You might want to take a look at freshrpms.net and install something like apt. You didn't mention what version of redhat. Freshrpms also has a mirror of redhat there. The RPMS your looking for can be found at ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/redhat/linux/9/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/.
