Up2date and apt-get/synaptic
yesterday
I downloaded apt-get and synaptic
it conflicted with something called zynaddsubfx
recommended that I " apt-get update && apt-get -f install "
which removed the conflicting zynaddsubfx
all well and good
now when I tried to run synaptic to get the new version of grip
it hung up and I had to " killall -15 synaptic "
this morning I tried to run up2date and it doesn't come up at all
what have I done
I've tried launching up2date from the Icon on the panel
from the menu > system tools > Redhat system network
from the command line with # up2date
nothing happens
no GUI
nothing
can someone tell me what I've done and and how to make it work again
I tell you what: it's up to you whether you want to trust me. You can back up /var/lib/rpm and try the commands everytime to see that they don't do any harm. Just avoid type mistakes, please.
