switchdesk snafu, how to recover
I have Red Hat 9 installed on an old Compaq Proliant with a 1MB, yes, one megabyte video memory. Believe it or not I had KDE running at 800x600 with 256 colors. Anyway, I downloaded and installed WindowMaker from a fedora/redhat ftp site. Then, uh... I was still root and I ran 'switchdesk WindowMaker'. The message that came up with that said I would go into WindowMaker next time I started X. (I think)
Anyway, I logged out and back in as myusername and all I got was a blank screen. So I wanted to get back to kde so I looked around and discovered .Xclients-default. I should have paid more attention to the 'exec' line in there. I just willy nilly deleted it and put in 'exec startkde'.
Now I get back to kde but the whole thing is hosed up and is almost unusable and is not my previous panel setup and icons size, etc.
Can somebody help me restore my screw up?
Thanks...
