Sendmail logwatch

I am using RH 9.0 and keep getting two unknown users in the Sendmail root mail
message.

user_unknown1@mydomain.com: 12 times
user_unknown2@mydomain.com: 10 times

Sendmail end---------------------------

does this mean someone is relaying or just trying to send mail to non
existent users?

What programs could I use to give a clearer picture of my mail and network?

Thanks for your help.
