rhn proxy vs rhn satellite

Hi

I'm trying to understand updates policy by redhat.
Please correct me if anything are wrote below is wrong.

Basic Service Subscription
--------------------------
- requires rhnsd daemon
- every systems conf is registered in RHN database on the http://rhn.redhat.com

Workgroup Service Subscription
------------------------------
-- rhn proxy server
-- downloads errata to organization central server
-- every system conf is registered in RHN database on the http://rhn.redhat.com
-- every system gets updated by using up2date cmd not rhnsd daemon

-- rhn satellite
-- in home RHN
-- systems conf are not registered in RHN database on the http://rhn.redhat.com
-- every system gets updated by using up2date cmd not rhnsd

rhnsd daemon
------------
It runs rhn_check utility in interval based on configuration in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/rhnsd
So if you schedule some action in RHN it will perform it after this interval.

additional info
---------------
- Red Hat Network Proxy Server and Red Hat Network Satellite, the server applications with which up2date interacts, are not freely available, open-source applications.

- he up2date command, the Red Hat Network client software, is open-source software released by Red Hat under the terms of the GNU GPL

- The current server can be downloaded from http://current.tigris.org. Although not yet as functional as Red Hat Network Proxy Server or Red Hat Network Satellite, current can already be used to create a RPM repository from which up2date-using clients can retrieve and install software

thx for help.

1. unless something strange about Proxy & Satellite, then for RHEL 5.x then yum rather than up2date; up2date was default for RHEL 4.x, but yum is avail as a backport.

2. there's a free version of Satellite known as Spacewalk

Basically with RH you are paying for support & updates.
Centos is free, inc updates, but no support.

If you've got at least one paid subscription for RH, the you can ask them direct.
