I noticed that the repomd.xml from RHN does not supply package group info.
Is there any alternative/productive solutions to use the package group feature in YUM? We're running the latest RHEL5, can I manually use the group xml file from ISO to build my local RHN mirror repo? searched around, but got no luck....
Thank you,
You can always try manually using the group xml file. The best thing to do would be for you to call RedHat support, since you're paying for RHN access, and ask them.
Some updates after contacting RedHat support (the issue still does not completely resolved.. stay tuned)
RHN is actually support package grouping info, it depends on whether your client support it or not.
For example, the cobbler comes along with RHEL-5 does not support retrieving grouping info, you can upgrade cobbler to a more recent version (e.g. 1.8+). It retrievals comps.xml and will use it for building repos by default.
The further issue I met is the grouping info does not look all right. When I use group related command of YUM, it's not correct as expected ...
