RHEL 5.4 server reboots randomly

I have a RHEL 5.4 server that randomly reboots.
The hardware is entirely Intel.
12 GB RAM
Intel RAID5

Anyone else experience this issue?
Grasping at straws.
It is a new server, (3months old), and has been having this issue ever since the initial installation.
No VMs-
System recovers inodes upon reboot-

Sorry, I left my crystal ball at the gym.

Check physical connections, especially power.

Update the kernel.

Check dmesg. Check /var/log/messages.

Hook up a monitor and watch it when it reboots.

We need more information, especially crash messages, to be able to help.

Is it happening at a consistent time or randomly throughout the day, have you tested the memory? is there anything about it in the logs?

Sorry for the lack of information. I am in a meeting right now and hoped I could provide additional info before someone responded.
I do not have access to the server right now, but will post relevant log info and configuration information.
The server is only 3 mos. old, placed in a server room @ 65 deg.F, all fans are operating properly, (plenty of airflow through the server/rack).
I'll post as soon as I can-

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Bob

As you can see in line 4 below (from 'messages') it appears it was not an intentional reboot
"Jun 11 08:37:02 ap005 syslogd 1.4.1: restart."
My understanding is when intentionally rebooted there will be an entry like
"Jun 6 12:33:23 ap005 shutdown[4764]: shutting down for system reboot"
But there is no such entry on the Jun 11 date.
Can you confirm this to be true? We are trying to prove to the hardware vendor there is a hardware issue. Because this is a live server it is currently impractical to run a memtest due to the downtime. Removing one power supply at a time does not cause reboot. This is second fresh install of RHEL 5.4 x86_64 on same server. Problem persists.
Also, is it possible for ACPI to cause reboot issues?

Thank you for your input.

Even with previous install the unexpected reboots were random (4 hours to 13 days between). We were given just 4 hour window to reinstall so very little time for diagnostics.

Below (in parts due to posting limitations) is from /var/log/messages - not finding files named kern.log or auth on server even using locate ... please advise.

Thank you again.

I don't need full logs, just need timeslice of messages before and after reboot
okay in nutshell
if you find no traces of program messages about shutdown in /var/log/secure and other files, check other files in /var/log/,
this possibly hardware failure which caused watchdog timer to force reboot pc.

Thank you for your assistance.
We have checked logs, and find no references to a shutdown command, only the standard "bots" trying to login as "shutdown"...

We will take this up with our supplier at this point.
As always, you guys have been great!

Bob
