RHEL 4.1 Japanese - htt_server[pid]: preedit has not been

Hello,

Our Swing App. has been working fine on previous Red Hat versions. However, when we migrating to RHEL 4.1 Japanese, we are plagued by /var/log/messages entries related to htt_server/iiim.

htt_server[2347]: preedit has not been
enabled yet. (1, 2)

The error is seen in a Japanese Install of RHEL 4.1 and in English (USA) Install with Japanese context.

I'm not surprised the latter would be problematic after going through the contortions of Linux.

But, the Native Japanese Install should work well with very few alterations.
(probably just a naive newbie......)

Since our GUI is developed with Java Swing, I suspect compatibility issues with Sun JRE 1.4 for Linux, RHEL 4.1, and/or IIIM services. Is there a Red Hat sanctioned JRE to work with IIIM services?

Any pointers or links would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Todd Myler

Not sure if this is compatible, but contact redhat re: the LACD (cd#5 of the RHEL4u install), as this disc contains fully mergable ibm-versions of devel, demo, and jre/plugin RPMs for ibm-java 1 4 2.
If you are cash-challenged, try doing a quick trial-download of the RHEL4u ES from the Enterprise Solutions page, acquire the Easy-ISOs link, and download the #5 disc via that route. there are a dozen or more of the previously mentioned classes of java modules on that disc.
Hope this helps.

Turns out this is similar to a bug already fixed in Fedora Core 3 (http://fedoranews.org/blog/?p=797). With hopes of getting the fix migrated to RHEL, I am submitting a bug in Bugzilla......
