Red Hat Install Aborts After Signal 11 Sent to Installer
Hey all,
I am trying to dual boot Red Hat on a system that already has Mandrake 9.2 I have all the CDroms, but when I go to install, after about a minute of waiting (after selecting graphical install or rescue), the installer aborts, and the error is "signal 11"... I have no clue what this means, but I cannot install because if it. If anyone could help, PLEASE reply.
My system is as follows:
HDA
1: / (m)
2: /home (m)
3: swap
4: / (rh)
5: /home (rh)
6: /shared
(Its a 40 GB, so space isn't that much of a problem)
CDROM/burner
P4 2.4Ghz AMD Integrated
Linux Mandrake is a brand new install, and works fine!
Can boot into Vector Live from boot CD, so CD works fine!
sig11 typically indicates bad hardware, except when it happens in the same place all the time (and you have mandrake already installed and I suppose it works properly) so I'm going to say that its probably a problem with those CDs. Redownload/reburn them, and check the md5sums of the ISOs against the real ones to make sure theres no corruption?
I threw the CD in my parents computer, and it installed fine, so its not the CD.
Mandrake does work on my computer, but when I boot it up, I get a partition check thingy going, and it just gets about 10 errors and then resests the device, tries again, and then goes on without it.... could this be doing it? How do I fix this? I just reinstalled Mandrake, and it did say my partition table was corupt, but I changed it, so why would it still do this?
I just reformatted my HD, taking Mandrake off of it (which can be installed without problems), and it still gives me that same error, which in more detail is:
HDA partition check - BadCRC
