Firewire/Kino/DV Camcorder

I'm trying to setup my Canon ZR40 to capture in Linux(Redhat 9.0) through my firewire card. So far I've got the following

OHCI/IEEE1394 module is loaded
Firewire controller is visible through Redhats Hardware Browser
dvgrab is installed
all of the libdv tools are installed
Kino has been compiled and is running
Now my problem is that my camcorder is not visible. In fact there is no /dev/raw1394 entry, so I'm wandering if my FireWire is setup correctly. Is there something that needs to be added so that paths/etc are correct? Right now I'm at a loss, and I haven't been able to find any good how-tos or setup info. I'm not a newbie but a pretty average user, so feel free to be a little technical in any responses.

Thanks in advance!

Have no idea what others you need. Download this little app Gscanbus for Firewire viewer similiar to USBView.

There is lots of info on the Internet. Just google the linux way.
