check network speed

How do I check my network connection speed in Red Hat 9? In Windows, I'd right-click the connection, choose status, and it would tell me 10Mbps or 100Mbps, etc. How can I find this in Red Hat?

personally i use "ethtool eth0" to show the statistics for eth0 etc.
