Cannot remount rw

There was a similar question to this but mine is kinda different.

I have just recently installed Red Hat 9 i had to use text based version since my grafixs card wasn't supported "GeForce FX 5200". I am running a deul boot.

I choose to use grub because it was the new bootloader for RH. It works perfectly my windows loads fine. And my redhat loads fine.

I have to boot stright into shell "init=/bin/su" from grub otherwise it tries to load a GUI and i get a black screen cos not proper driver.

My file system is read only. And i can't change it to read-write

/ is /dev/hda5
When i "cat /etc/mtab" it says my file system is mouted read write. But when i try creating/editing files/folders it says it's read only.

I have tried remounting but it doesn't seem to work. I may have the command wronge but i have tried many combinations and no results.

linux partition: /dev/hda5
mounted as: /

Could you please help me by telling me what i'm doing wronge or what i should change(I can't edit config files). Probobly just my mount syntax but some of my linux friend couldn't help. (This is my first install)

Thanks in advanced
I hope i gave you enough info

Instead of trying to find out your problems, my suggestion is to simply boot with init 3 instead of init=/bin/sh.

Try to boot it in single user mode and change /etc/inittab to init level 3.
id:XX:initdefault
u will find above line in inittab, u change the x parameter to 3 and restart the system.

Thanks,
