Puppy freezing on boot-up

I find that some Puppies tend to freeze after the "loading the kernel" statement. A cold boot usually fixes it (but not always).

Can anyone give me a clue?

Yes, that sounds like a hardware problem. I'd check that all the
wired connections are good and consider replacing the power supply.
Those are the easy things to check. It could be problems with the
cables, the motherboard, anything on the motherboard or even the
power source.
