Puppy Can't Find My Modem

I have an NTL 250 connected via an ethernet cable and no idea what driver I should install.

Tried auto select, didn't work.

It's a cable modem so if your machine is configured to get an IP address using DHCP "it should work". It doesn't work if this is a brand new account (have to register MAC address with provider first) or if you switched machines (wedge a router in between that spoofs the registered MAC address).

It's an old account. I tried autoDHCP, but that didn't work.

I guess I need to find my IP address.

I really didn't get what you were talking about.

I don't have a router and I've no idea how to configure my machine to get an IP address using DHCP.

What shows if you open a terminal and type "ifconfig up eth0; ifconfig eth0"?
