hi folks,
title says it all. I want to download videos from youtube using Chromium web browser. I'm not familiar with the Puppy file system yet so step by step is needed. thanks Tom
Google is your friend. Don't feel guilty about taking advantage of him occasionally.
I've never touched, or even seen, Chromium personally, but a few seconds of searching shows several add-ons available for Chrome. (Chrome add-ons do work in Chromium too, don't they?)
Or if you don't want to go that route, there are a load of websites that can grab videos from youtube and other sites for you. So you can use any browser you want.
Depending on the version of Puppy you are running, select menu-internet-You2pup for a means of downloading Youtube videos for offline viewing.
If you do not have it in the version you are using, migrate to murga-linux.com/puppy and do a search for You2pup.
Look for GTK Youtube Viewer on the murga-linux web site.
Install it, and tell it what you want to search for after running it.
You have to expand to full screen for seeing the prompt for additional videos.
Right-click on a title to get information and the option to download the file.
I have a slow, 1.5mbs connection that relly messes up viewing videos on line.
So I download them to a folder I made with lots of storage space.
Then I can play them without them messing up as to hesitation or stopping all together.
There a a number of YouTube downloader programs out there. But you really want the GTK YouTube Viewer for your needs.
^ necrobumping is discouraged, esp. with such an often-discussed topic.
anyhow, the only real way is to use youtube-dl (and optionally mpv, which will play the downloaded video directly).
with an add-on like "Open with" you can use it directly from the browser.
