How can I make the hard drive never go into idle mode? Puppy slackware 14.1 32-bit

I am using Puppy slackware 14.1 32-bit and I got a cronjob which is not running since the hard drive is going into idle mode after some time.
How can I make the hard drive never go into idle mode?
(Is there any way to get access to the power settings?)

I did not try
Code:
hdparm -S
because
Code:
hdparm -I /dev/sda | grep level
resultend in:
Code:
AdvancedPM level: unknown setting (0x8080)

i believe this is a false conclusion.

however, hard drive idle spindown can (often) be adjusted with smartctl.
requires a little reading & set-upping.
