Getting a minimal install of Puppy 525

Hello,
I created a remaster CD of Puppy, in which I have removed a few of the apps I won't use. Works great.

But, I want to create a rescue CD with a very light desktop with the intention of creating a rescue CD, somewhat similar to System Rescue CD.

I need to know what pre installed apps I can remove safely, and any additional apps to install to create a rescue/forensics cd. I have installed elinks, but have trouble getting around in it.

Since i am still a noob, I would like to put in some documentation or howto's with the remaster.

Thank you for your advice and assistance

I am still a noob, but have tried a lot of things Linux

Not sure what forensic apps to load into a remastered Puppy 5.25. Your query might be better answered at http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/index.php

For manually making a new iso in Puppy

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=52598

in case you did not know of the thread.

Wow, I didn't really understand any of that thread. I did successfully created a remaster using the software provided in puppy. I'm keeping that for future installs of my version of puppy(that already has some apps removed). Just looking to slim it down further. 525 has some features that allow removal of packages installed with the 525 iso.

(1) Was looking for more apps to remove without damaging puppy.
(2) the forensics part, I'm not sure I will ever be ready for without taking a series of college courses.

thanks for your input.

No need to reinvent the wheel. There are many good and smaller Puppies available. Some are here:

All have been developed by experienced Puppy devs and could possibly be a base for your experiment.

Much success

Thanks for the url's. My first experiment was with Puppy Lite. I tried openbox as a windowmanager. Never did get my personal app launching keyboard shortcuts to work. Oh, well, Will continue to play with it, and learn. My 525 is missing some apps but works very well, and lupu525 is an excellent lightweight distro. I've used the CD to rescue a boot, or restore grub several times.

I've installed SlimPup2.4 and having fun with it.
