Guess you tried to install an RPM package. That, however, is one package type that does not go well with Puppy 5.2
Puppy downloads and installs programs in several ways:
1. The install icon on the desktop
2. The quickpet icon on the desktop
3. A wide variety of PET packages that can be found by using
http://wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html and a meaningful searchphrase.
4. The occasional DEB package you might come across on the internet. Normally DEBs can be found by using the installer icon. If you try to install a lone deb package, the installer will tell you what dependencies you need.
RPMs are not a good idea for an Ubuntu connected Puppy, as 5.2.
You might want to build your own from here
http://bkhome.org/woof/index.html using Red Hat repositories as your base.
