Question Carrier missing

In trying to get onto the Internet I have located the modem address
Wdial rings my phone number and then tells me there is no carrier
How do I find this carrier and get it into the dialup
I am trying Puppy 4.3

Need more information. Are you are using an analog dialup MODEM or GSM mobile phone connection? The carrier is the chirps and odd screeches that you hear when analog MODEM outputs a signal. Wdial should be configured to dial your ISP's telephone number and not your personal number.
