Portage and Ruby

Hi, I am starting to get to know Ruby and I was wondering if there is any way to access portage in Ruby. I am not too familiar with the portage API in Python but maybe there is any good guide out there that someone here knows about? Or at least where to look or what to look for.

Thanks.

edit:
is there really no way to do this? Not even some way to access python in ruby and via that access portage? I need any help I can get.

What portage is that and will it replace the current portage or just be an alternative?
