OpenGL, Mesa, X11 and plenty of woes

greetings.

pardon my ignorance, but i'm struggling here to get Mesa-4.0.3 functioning (in Mandrake 9). I've installed the Mesa-4.0.3-mdk.rpm (incl. in Mandrake 9 distribution) along with the necessary libraries. Now EVERY c++ demo or snippet of code i see (on the web and in the demos) includes the following line (or something similar):

#include <X11/Xlib.h>

now there isn't a "Xlib.h" on my setup. do i need to download it? is it hiding?

also, i don't see how the files included in Mesa-4.0.3-6mdk.rpm can be used in anyway (they all seem to be documents). do i need to make something?

i'm really lost.
please help.
thanks.

ive never used an rpm based distro but from what you say it sounds like your missing the X development libraries/headers which at a guess are in X-version-devel.rpm
