normal gdb and spec gdb for kgdb

Hi Guys

I am about to debug Kernel with kgdb

According to the documentation

http://kgdb.linsyssoft.com/modreq.htm

I need special version of gdb

How can I install it???

Should I uninstall current gdb and how???

Can I have both???
If I can:

Will they conflict???

How can I distinguish between them?
Does the special version of gdb have all functionality of normal kgdb???

Get the sources. Then standard install ./configure, make, make install. Note that it's a good idea to keep it in a special directory (like in /usr/local/bin) - more below.

Don't uninstall. Kdbg latest version is experimental, so it's a better idea to use standard version for other programs.

You can have both. They need to be installed into separate directories. Then, if you want to run the new one (let's say it's in /usr/local/bin) you need to run it with full patch instead of using only program name. It's a good idea to have scripts written for debugging your kernel, so you don't have to think about which version to run.

Which special version of gdb?
