Looking of Information about Perl History

I am doing a project on Perl for school, and I am having a tought time finding a lot of information about its history and why it was developed. I have found some web pages that have some basic information like years of release and things like that, but I haven't found anything too detailed. Does anybody know of any good URL's that would have this type of information? Thanks.

Also, if you can find a book called: "The Cathedral and the Bazaar", a collection of essays I think published by O'Reilly, it has an essay written by Wall, that shows just how much of a freak it took to develop something as freakish as Perl. it'll also look good as a hard-paper citation if you have to turn in a biblio.
