linux2.6 kernel cannot support fat32,ntfs.why?


i loaddown the linux2.6 kernel from linux.org.after compiled it i find that the kernel can not support fat32,ntfs.and i also look at the .config file which is not any options to support fat32 filesystem.now what can i do in order to make the kernel support fat32 filesystem.

It supports read and write for fat32 and read only for ntfs. Some distros don't compile this into the kernel or modules by default. If you compiled the kernel on your own, you should have enabled this yourself under the file systems section.

thanks for your reply,but ....

but i have look carefully at the .config file and when i did makemenu i were also careful to look at all these options in the filesystem section,but i cannot find the options like support fat32 or ntfs.

Hi,

From the main menu, it is Filesystems -> Dos/Fat/NT Filesystems
