IPC Mechanisms

some UNIX gurus please tell me how ipc mechanisms, (like message queues and semaphores work) in simple words. i tried reading some of the books, but they were all hazy(to me, of course). so pls don't recommend me any reading material. i wud appreciate if the mechanisms were illustrated using sample programs.

if you have any problems understanding them you can always put your queries here..

that is the whole purpose of this forum ... just dont bypass the trying part
