GUI problem

Hi, I'm having a small problem in my program and was wondering if anyone knows how to solve it. What I want to do is post values into text boxes on my GUI, but the problem is that if I don't move the mouse, or if another window has the focus, the values don't get posted into the text boxes until i click back on the window or move my mouse around on it. Is there a way to have it continuously post the values at like 1 second intervals without me having to click on the window each time.
Thanks for your time.
