gSOAP problems with nested functions

Trying to use gSOAP as directed for an assignment. Though gSOAP is generally used with web servers, this is a stand-alone application in C (again, as directed) to simulate a banking system (one object is to demonstrate atomicity and ACID behaviour in distributed applications).

No problems building a simple client-server pair nor extening this to client + multiple servers, but this app needs a three layer arrangement i.e. client - middle_bits - servers. I can't get it to build, as it seems to get confused about the "middle_bits" being both client and server.

Have any readers any familairity with gSOAP especially in this sort of application? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
