about interrupts

Hi!
I am reading Linux device drivers by Rubini.
In that book he has mentioned about shared interrupts. What is a shared interrupt? can we use the one IRQ number for two devices? Please let me any archives where i can get more information about these.
Thanks in advance.
bye,
Eshwar
