File read/write on /dev/ttyS0 is not working on silent boot
Hi,
I'm using kernel 2.6.22 ported on a mips based embedded board(with u-boot 1.3.1).
The serial port(ttyS0) here is configured for kernel console and kernel messages. My aim is to disable the kernel console and disable all the messages coming on the serial port and use it to communicate with another serial device.
Problem is, if kernel is in silent mode(silent boot), i'm not able to send/receive data through serial port using file write/read operations on /dev/ttyS0(not able to see any characters in minicom on ttyS0 file write and not able to give input through minicom for ttyS0 read).
If kernel is NOT in silent mode (configured for normal boot)and console is disabled on serial port, read and write operations on /dev/ttyS0 are working. Here the problem is, it expects a return key at the end of input from serial port for reading the character(s) from /dev/ttyS0.
Please help me in this regard.
Thanks,
-Ganesha
