I’ve downloaded the Beta_5iso and burn this image on a cd. Now, if I boot from the cd I get a huge list of `error` marks and then dies out (friezes). I tried it on two different laptops (M centrino and a PIII) and got the same result. Is the iso-image not ok, or is it the hardware. Hoop somebody can help me out.
It scrolls down all files in the beginning and states an error after each. it indicates what the percentage is that has been checked and after 100% it just friezes.
The beta 5 iso image is fine. Too many people including myself have downloaded it without issue for it to be bad. That out of the way, the next question is if the md5sum is correct. Did you check that? Next to try is to burn the image at a relatively slow speed. A few people complain about a bad image and when they burn it at about 12x to 8x they get a good burn. Try that. A remote possibility is the CDROM Reader being slightly out of alignment. I say it is remote but it is something to consider. The point is to make a systematic check of each step.
I can exclude something’s. I tried 2 different computer with the same result so it isn’t the alignment, probably. I burned the image at 8X because I head about the bad images at high speed.
I do think you are right that the image is fine. I will check the md5sum, that might be it!!
