X server fails to start

Hi, when I boot mandriva 10 it starts to go to runlevel 5 then switches to 1 and I end up at the command prompt. I then type in "init 5" and the GUI starts, the latest nvidia drivers are installed and working. This behavior started after a kernel upgrade to 31.12. Output of,
uname -a is,
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.31.12-desktop-1mnb #1 SMP Tue Jan 26 03:35:36 EST 2010 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4600 @ 2.40GHz GNU/Linux. Thanks.

How did you install the Nvidia drivers? From Mandriva repos or by Nvidia installation script? If by Nvidia installation script, you need to re-run that script each time you upgrade your kernel.

Luck!
