Wireless Card going to sleep

Ive setup an old laptop to dish out websites over my LAN. After so many minutes of being idle I cant access it. I goto the laptop login and its not until I send data out of the laptop I can start accessing the sites again. Is this a security issue? Power management within mandrake somewhere?

No there is nothing in Mandrake that specifically causes this.

I'm running 10.1 on my Laptops and neither unit behaves as you've described.

Well before I installed Mandrake 10.1 last night it was running version 9 with an uptime of 350+ days, kinda says its nothing to do with BIOS Power Management

Ive left the laptop logged in doing a continuous ping to my router to keep the connection alive. Odd though this.

Is your laptops running with wireless cards?

Re: Wireless.

Yes of course, hence the reply.

I've set up Mandrake 10.0 and 10.1 on numerous machines with WiFi adapters and non exhibit the problem you speak off.

You may want to try running iwconfig in a console to query the state of the WiFi adapter.

You can check and control it's power management with this program.
